Dooms Day

The anticipation of weeks presumably celebration came to a screeching end today. My inbox dinged on my blackberry and the sender Amy Newman of Queensland Tourism said I DID NOT make it to the next round of the island care taker job. :-( My heart was crushed as moments of sadness, despair and a moist corner of my eye consumed me. I put my heart into my submission but it wasn't enough. The consolation prize was knowing out of 34, 658 applicants from 200 countries, I was in the running to make the 50 shortlist to the next round but I ended with being applicant #142. Here is my masterpiece.......

Couchsurfing with Pat

I'm working in Tampa at the NFL Experience during Superbowl week and my housing situation got jacked up. Steve and Robie Gold were also included in our housing crisis. Steve being the shrewd gentleman he is found Pat on couchusurfing.com and Robie Gold has the car and I bring great story telling to the table. Pat happens to be a 61 yr old guy who is so cool. Him and his wife but a house out of wood in the country and moved back to Tampa after 30 yrs. He has been to afghanistan, pakistan and a whole bunch of other places. He made is waffles from whole grains. It was amazing!!!

Yes, Yes, Yes, I made it to DC and we are going to celebrate Barack Obama becoming the 44th President of the United States of America. This is a glorious time that I'm so excited to see. I meet up with my cousin Travis and we stay at the JW Marriott on 14th and Penn Ave two blocks from the White House. We then head to Jin Lounge to meet up with TSU alumni and we had a great time kicking it. Emil arrived late and we headed to Jumbo Slice afterwards to get some late night eats and it was a party in the pizza spot. They had strobe lights and music pumping. It was such a fun night!!!

Sosua day 2

Well what else do you do on an island besides go to the beach. Well I found another beach, Sosua beach and it was nice as well. It was pretty long and interesting because it had bars and shops all along the beach. It was really laid back and the green of the trees was a nice touch!

My time in Santo Domingo has come to an end and I am headed to Sosua located on the North Side of the Island. I take a bus to Sosua which was really nice and it cost $8 for a 3 hour bus ride. Not bad is you ask me! Once I arrived in Sosua I found a room for $30 a night. The food was priced well I spent no more than $10 a meal. Once I got situated I made my way to the beach!

I'm in old city colonial zona where Christopher Columbus first landed and checking out the sights. This is the old place in the Americas. It is amazing to be here to see the history and how everything is preserved.

I'm made it to Santo domingo, Dominican Republic and I stumbled upon an off the beaten path restaurant. It was great! I had rice, beans, tostones which is fried plantains, beef and an El Presidente beer! It cost about $8 bucks and the atmosphere was the best par; it was tranquil!

Back to NYC - GAME NIGHT

I'm back in NYC on my way to Dominican Republic and i hook up with the usual suspects Emil and Cliff and we hook up with his people for game night. I must say I attended a game night last summer at Emil's place and it was so much fun. We play Tabu, guys vs girls, the women are cool and fun and drinks are the icing on the cake!

NYE in NYC

Ok so i didn't make it to Miami so we kicked it in Harlem. We went to Meridith crib in Harlem for drinks and pics. My man Emil was there and he was super wasted. I never seen him in rare form like that. The funny thing was he didn't sober up . He stayed that way the entire night. It was too many laughs. After the pre-drink session we went to a Oh Lounge on 145th but my camera died so i have no pics. It was a great time. The women were looking good and were friendly and it only cost $30. That is an excellent NYE, NYC price.

I had an amazing night in nyc last night! We meet the girls at Johnny Utah's and it was lot of funny. Beautiful women riding a mechanical bull, drinks, great food.

You have to understand the magnitude of this evening. It is me and Cliff and six women which all look great and are having a great time. In order to extend the night I suggest we go to APT in the meat packing district. A great spot that stay open til 4am and has a great DJ line up and diverse crowd. Needless to say we had a great time at APT!!!

Today a friend inspired me to consistently write to get a flow. In the process of finding my rhythm, I plan to break out of my shell of worrying if what i write is good enough or holds your attention. I'm going to write like I got some kind of respect for myself! LOL

I finally took sometime to do the little things that add to your life that you always say your going to do but never do. With that being said I walked down Michigan Avenue and took a picture of the Lions outside of the Art Institute. The Lions were a gift from Mrs. Henry Field donated when the Institute opened in 1893. They aren't identical and the North Lion is on the prowl and the South Lion stands in an attitude of defiance.

THE GNOME
hit up the Museum from the Rocky movies and get a pic in front of the Rocky statue. We also ran into a family that stole a gnome from a trailer park and takes it around the States on there trips and takes pic of it in different places and after a year mails it back to the owner with the pics. we took a pic with the gnome so somebody will have a pic of me and Ben. The funny thing is this was the second time they family did it. This was done on the movie Amelie (french film) and when i asked they never saw the movie but had the same idea. I love life!!!!

Pat's or Geno's-Cheese Steak Battle

We're in Philly and Ben and I head down to the Philly Cheese Steak epicenter. First we hit up Pat's and he has directions on how to order a cheese steak. He has been there since 1930 and it was delicious. I had a cheese steak with onions and provolone cheese. The meat was delicious but the bread was kind of hard.

Next stop Geno's, it has the Las Vegas flash with the huge sign and lights. It has been there since 1966. It was delicious also the bread was soft but the meat wasn't as seasoned as Pat's. There wasn't a dramatic difference but if I had to decide I would put Pat's meat on Geno's bread! ;-)

I made it back to Beantown and it was Ben's first time so i had to show him around. That is pretty cool that i get to show around someone a city i'm not from. Nevertheless we did the tourist stuff, newbury st, boyleston st and we went to Cheers....where everyone knows your name. We also walked thru a beautiful park.

Niagara Falls

We are on our way back to the States and we headed over to the magnificent Niagara Falls. It took me awhile to get here but I finally made it and it was well worth the wait. Obviously we saw it on the Canadian side which was beautiful! Next stop good ol' USA!

Glass Floor

After recovering from a night of kicking it we decide to see some sights. First stop Dundas square which is a super mini Times Square. Next we hit up the CN Tower which is the tallest structure in the world. The CN Tower has a glass floor so you can look 1,200 ft below and the only thing separating you is a sheet of glass! Toronto is expensive with friendly people and clean. I had a great time and i suggest you go with a lot of money and on the weekend so you can can party hard!

We had some days off so Ben and I decide to hit up Canada. It was a journey that started at midnight and didn't end until 7 pm. After the Detroit show we tried to get into Canada from the Detroit side. We sat in line for 3 hours waiting to get to customs and then we find out we couldn't get in because our trailer is commercial. At that moment we became rejects and we had to turn around and go back to the states. Once we got to the USA border Ben got a no match notice because there is a guy with the same name and birthday with a criminal record so we had to go into the office and go through some extra stuff. We decide to drive under Lake Erie to Buffalo, drop the trailer and go to Toronto. It only took 5 minutes to cross the border! Once we got to the city we had to find a hotel room and it was about 7 pm by the time we got into our room to take a shower and everything. We got dressed and headed to Richmond st which was poppin. It was raining and still poppin but the Canadians had to get out and kick it and the people are very nice. We ended up at Tryst and met some cool people and had a great time.

I have lived 27 years and i finally made it to Detroit. I was excited but not really. I'm glad my tour paid for me to come cause this place is kind of depressing! Nevertheless i had breakfast at the Tigers Field today and I kept singing Selfish by Slum Village feat. Kanye and John Legend I love that song. Shout out to SV!!!

OMJesus!!! It is the AKA's 100 Centennial and there are so many women in DC. Its also dope because TSU's chapter Alpha Psi had a happy hour and i saw so many people i hadn't seen in forever. We went to a party afterwards and i ran into some more TSU people. DC was off the chain!!!

Monument Run

I made it to Chocolate City and i decide to do a monument run. I ran all around DC checkin out the monuments. It was pretty cool! I saw Bush drive into the White House. There was one suburban with the windows down and they had the guns ready, wishing someone would try something! LOL I ran to the White House to Washington monument to Jefferson to the Capitol. I made it to Charleston and I had some BBQ Shrimp and Grits. I came down here about two years ago with Freddie B and I had the taste for this dish every since. Rarely do I eat at the same spot if i have another choose at hand but this dish was so good i had to go back to the same spot and it was well worth it!!!!!!

I'm northern Florida and i found this beach in St. Augustine. It was really nice and tranquil. The women weren't there in excess but it was a nice family beach. It was clean and the temperature wasn't super crazy. After i left the beach i found a YMCA and did some laps in the pool. It was so much fun. I hadn't done that in awhile. I grew up swimming and the funny thing is i just found out a few years ago that a large amount of black people don't know how to swim.

I left New Orleans and I'm in Laurel, Mississippi! I had to come visit the family. I went to see my great Aunt, Mary Lee but she wasn't home :-( She is any amazing women she is about 6'2, no one knows how old she is and she lives like she is thirty. This is her crib my granddaddy and the other seven of them grew up in. Check out the out house in the back. Ya'll don't know about that dirty south! LOL Shout out to David Banner!

I'm driving from Phoenix to Salt Lake City and I had to stop and check out this Canyon. As you can see it is very nice. People come out here with there boats and have a good time also. This is the most exciting natural beauty i have seen so far!

Hey World Widers I just made it back home to Chicago. I was in Roatan, Honduras then i went to miami, atl, miami, tampa and back to the Windy City. It has been a great two weeks living in warm weather but i'm happy to be home to lay in my own bed. While in Miami i hung out with my homie Aaron and wife Susan. In Atlanta i had a job interview that i didn't get :-( and i went back to miami, went to Wet Willies, got wasted and woke up the next day with a mean hangover. I hadn't had a hangover in years since TSU (Tennessee State U). I went to Tampa to see a friend and now i'm in the Chi! I wonder what this week will bring but whatever it is i will share it with all of you.
