Pat's or Geno's-Cheese Steak Battle

We're in Philly and Ben and I head down to the Philly Cheese Steak epicenter.  First we hit up Pat's and he has directions on how to order a cheese steak.  He has been there since 1930 and it was delicious.  I had a cheese steak with onions and provolone cheese.  The meat was delicious but the bread was kind of hard.
Next stop Geno's, it has the Las Vegas flash with the huge sign and lights.  It has been there since 1966.  It was delicious also the bread was soft but the meat wasn't as seasoned as Pat's.  There wasn't a dramatic difference but if I had to decide I would put Pat's meat on Geno's bread! ;-)

both places are nothing great. the philly steak sandwich is pretty much a simple lame food, just as philly is a pretty simple lame city.

Pat's is way better than Geno's (Genos tastes exactly like frozen 'steak-ums' anyone can buy at walmart), but neither are anything close to amazing. But if you are comparing, I think you'll like Pat's MUCH better. Its a good sandwich, just overhyped.
